May we take this opportunity of
welcoming you to our practice. This practice is a partnership. The intention
of this website is to make you aware of the services provided by the practice
so that you may use them to your best advantage. It will also help us if you
are familiar with our guidelines regarding repeat prescriptions, etc.
LILLIPUT SURGERY HISTORY
The practice came together
in its current format in 1974 when Dr Bryan Goodrich joined Dr Frederick Rutland
with a total of 1500 patients. Dr Geoffrey Walder arrived in 1978, followed by
Dr John Buckmaster in 1981, as the practice population increased.
We moved to our present
premises on the shores of Poole Harbour in 1985. One year later the partnership
grew again when Dr Susan Thomas was appointed. With the continuing increase in
patient numbers and pressure on the provision of primary health care.
Dr Andrew Rutland joined in 1996. In March 2000 Dr Goodrich retired from general
practice. On 1st April of that year we welcomed Dr Tanya Smith as a new partner
in the practice. In September 2003 Dr. Buckmaster left the area to start a new
life in the Western Isles of Scotland as a single-handed practitioner. Dr. Karen
Bayley joined us as a partner in October 2003, having been our GP Registrar up
to that time.We now care for nearly 8500 patients.
PRACTICE
AIMS
The aim of the practice
is to provide the best possible general practice service to our patients. In
order to achieve this we will:
- Provide care in accordance with
the practice charter, the Dorset Health Authority and the national patient's
charter. We are part of Poole Primary Care Trust and contribute to their Health
Improvement Plan.
- Liaise with our patients, colleagues
and other agencies.
- Develop management systems which
allow us to monitor the quality delivered and also to identify the health needs
of the community.
- Provide appropriate training to
the practice staff, both medical
and clerical.
EQUIPMENT
FUND
Occasionally the practice receives
donations or bequests. Sometimes these gifts are for designated purposes. Any
donation which does not have a specific purpose will be allocated to our equipment
fund. The fund is largely maintained by the doctors and used for the purchase
of new equipment to enhance the service to our patients.
SMOKING
Smoking is not permitted
on practice premises.
DOGS
No dogs except guide
dogs for the blind are permitted on practice premises.
