May we take this opportunity of
welcoming you to our practice. This practice is a partnership. The intention
of this website is to make you aware of the services provided by the practice
so that you may use them to your best advantage. It will also help us if you
are familiar with our guidelines regarding repeat prescriptions, etc.
LILLIPUT SURGERY HISTORY
The practice was formed in 1974 when Dr Bryan Goodrich joined Dr Frederick Rutland. In 1978 Dr Geoffrey Walder joined the practice, followed by Dr John Buckmaster in 1981.
We moved to the Elms Avenue site in 1985. One year later the Partnership grew again when Dr Susan Thomas was appointed. With the continuing increase in patient numbers and pressure on the provision of Primary Health Care, Dr Andrew Rutland joined in 1996. In March 2000, Dr Goodrich retired from General Practice, and we were joined in April of that year by Dr Tanya Smith. Towards the end of 2003 Dr Buckmaster left the practice (heading to the Western Isles of Scotland as a single-handed practitioner), paving the way for Dr Karen Bayley to join the Partnership in October 2003.
In January 2007, following many years of planning, we moved into temporary accommodation whilst the original building was demolished to make way for a new purpose-built surgery.
The new building was completed in May 2008, allowing us to accommodate the ever changing needs of General Practice in the 21st Century.
In November 2009 Dr Walder retired after 31 years at the surgery. He was replaced by Dr Jonathan Snell.
PRACTICE AIMS
The aim of the practice
is to provide the best possible general practice service to our patients. In
order to achieve this we will:
- Provide care in accordance with the practice charter, the Dorset Health Authority and
the national patient’s charter. We are part of Bournemouth and Poole Teaching Primary
Care Trust and contribute to their Health Improvement Plan.
- Liaise with our patients, colleagues and other agencies.
- Develop management systems which allow us to monitor the quality delivered and also
to identify the health needs of the community.
- Provide appropriate training to the practice staff, both medical and clerical.
EQUIPMENT FUND
Occasionally the practice receives
donations or bequests. Sometimes these gifts are for designated purposes. Any
donation which does not have a specific purpose will be allocated to our equipment
fund. The fund is largely maintained by the doctors and used for the purchase
of new equipment to enhance the service to our patients.
SMOKING
Smoking is not permitted
on practice premises.
DOGS
No dogs except guide dogs for the hearing/blind are permitted on practice premises.
